Agent Ransack – Seach utility
A co-worker at Schematic recommended Agent Ransack to find large files on Windows. I recently purchased two Western Digital removable drives to backup all the machines on the home office network. I wanted to make sure that I could find and delete any huge unnecessary files (i.e. temporary video captures, installer files, etc.) and this tool did the trick!

Flash Optimizer
The designers at Schematic just got a licensed copy of Flash Optimizer to use with banner ad campaigns. So far, it’s working out pretty well, reducing 30k banners down to 15k without much loss in quality. As anyone who’s in the business of making Flash banner ads, there are pretty tight file size restrictions.

ParseDateTime()
As I was setting up the .Text blogger application, I was having difficulty using the DateFormat() tag in CFML to translate the date string of the RSS feed (shown on the main page of FlashSupport.com). With a little research, I found a native CF function called ParseDateTime(), which takes a string of a date (i.e. “Mon, 21 Jul 2003 14:30:00 GMT”) and converts it to a native date object in CF. For example:
DateFormat(ParseDateTime(“Mon, 21 Jul 2003 14:30:00 GMT”), ‘MMMM D, YYYY’)
yields:
July 21, 2003

Western Digital 250GB removable hard drive
I recently purchased this drive from Buy.com. It’s got a pretty funky neon light case. I’ll post a pic of it in the actual workplace soon. Nice rebate too!

Welcome to my blog
Well, I’ve finally decided to setup a blog. I looked a few freeware/open source blogs, and I went with .Text on the recommendation of Chafic Kazoun. I’ll do my best to maintain the entries across the categories I setup.
